Yes dear friends I have returned from the abyss! After a great week of CBC summer camp in Orange Beach I spoke at the Life Community Church (of Nolansville, Tennessee) summer camp in Gulf Shores. This weekend I held off blogging to have some much needed catch up time with my family.
BUT NOW I AM BACK! Ready for a huge week starting with Two Buck Tuesday tonight, the July Road Trip on Friday, and the return of Converge Weekend Worship on Sunday!
I hope you are looking forward to these special, summer only, events!
To tide you over until our activities I give to you the seagull song which I wrote and performed at the Life Community summer camp last week. Enjoy!
We had 17 students and leaders show up for the first ever Converge Monday Morning Hike. We set out to tame the wilds of the Huckabee Nature Center in Fort Smith. There we hiked 3.5 miles of trails through meadows and woods. Here is our group picture in front of Wells Lake. Thanks to everyone who woke up early and marched through the tick infested woods with us!
Some other shots from the day...
More lunch shots (I promise you we did hike some too!)
Tick Check!!!! Almost everyone found at least one tick...yikes!
I told you we hiked!
Joins us in July for our next Monday Morning Hike as we brave the wilds of Van Buren and the Cracked Creek Trail (there are several waterfalls to see on this hike!).
Our blog this week is dedicated to the summer activities for Converge Students. Tonight we reveal Two Buck Tuesdays to you!
These are events that the name helps describe. On select TUESDAYS we will have events that cost TWO BUCKS! See the name is not just witty...it tells about the event as well. These will be fun nights to hang out with other students and leaders from Converge. We will have some structured activities that is bound to have you laughing, running, and sweating!
Here is the Converge Summer line up for Two Buck Tuesdays...
June 16th - The Flamingo Series. This was originally supposed to happen in May but was rained out. For our first two buck Tuesday come out ready for a guy verses girl wiffle ball game. The only catch is that guys will have their legs taped together. Hot Dogs and Hamburgers will be served! We will meet, eat, and play at the church. (5:30 - 8pm)
July 7th - Water Wars. A night to help you cool down and chill out! Come dressed ready to soak and soak others. Of course we will serve WATERmelon! Cost is...you guessed it...2 Bucks. We will meet and play at the church. (6 - 8pm)
July 21st - Buy, Beg, Barter, and Borrow. This is a scavenger hunt with a twist! It is better to experience than explain...trust me though it will be fun. We will meet at the church and wrap up at the Marble Slab on Rogers Avenue. (6 - 8pm)
August 4th - It's a suprise. We will close out our season of Two Buck Tuesdays with a bang. This night is too big to share just yet...but it will be an amazingly fun night...TRUST ME!
There you have it. Four fun and frugal events to get you out on Tuesday nights this summer. See you there!
Start the week in the great outdoors with us on Monday Morning Hikes!
These free events are a great chance to connect with God, nature, and other students as we take off for Hikes on...you guessed it...Monday mornings! We will meet at the church at 9:30 AM to head off to one of the many great sites for hiking in the River Valley area. Bring a bottle of water and a sack lunch with you!
We will head to a site hike some, have a devotional on the trail, and eat lunch together. Along the way you will get to hang out with other Converge students and leaders. We might even find a place to swim or play capture the flag!
Our first Monday Morning Hike is next week, Monday June 8th!
Hello friends! For the rest of the week all of the posts will be sharing about the things we are doing this summer at Converge.
The summer calendar is full of events that are designed to bring you closer to Christ and one another. To achieve this we have great spiritual growth experiences and great non-spiritual experiences throughout the summer!
Our theme this summer is, "Upside Down." We chose this direction for our teaching and activities to challenge you to live a life that is truly different than the ones other teenagers are living. Throughout this summer you will be encouraged to look at life the way Jesus does and do it completely different from the world.
Each Sunday night at Weekend Worship you will learn about a different spiritual discipline, or HABIT, that you can use to grown your faith in Christ and understanding of His word. Throughout the summer we will have Upside down events that will call you from comfort into sacrifice as you have the chance to give to others.
If you have not already gotten a Summer Save the Date Card then one will be coming in your mail later this week. This little card will give you all of the key dates for our events both big and small this summer.
Join us at one, some, or all of our great summer activities.
